Part of the UT Health San Antonio.
The Craniofacial Oral-Biology Student Training in Academic Research(COSTAR) is a program which supports advanced research training in Craniofacial Oral-Biology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. The COSTAR mission is to train a cadre of highly skilled, interactive scientists who can successfully address the expanding opportunities in dental, oral and craniofacial research. The program provides a broad interdisciplinary research experience for exceptionally motivated trainees in a research-intensive academic Health Science Center environment.
The COSTAR Program offers three training tracks which are based upon appropriate mentorship and a foundation of programmatic evaluation.
Trainees under this track will complete the first 3 years of their PhD training and then complete the requirements for their dental training. The final completion of their PhD training will be completed concurrently while completing dental school. Options for training for dual degree candidates can be found through the Dental School and the Graduate School programs.
Trainees under this track will pursue a PhD program through the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Trainees under this track will pursue intensive post-doctoral training in an area of specialty relating to dental and craniofacial research.
